What you have to do

You’re a world-class documentary film director and you’re making a short video about the hidden world of the Oxford Canal and recording it on your phone. The video should be no more than a minute in length.

Inspiration

WILDLIFE – spot ducks, bats, dragonflies, and lots of birds around the canal
THE BOATS – look for traditional narrowboats, maintenance barges or little rowing boats
CANAL ARCHITECTURE – look for swing bridges, little brick bridges and deep, narrow locks
Anything else about the canal that interests you.

Your film should include footage of the Oxford canal anywhere along its length. Please let us know the location of any footage included as this will be of interest to judges and the public.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to anyone aged  5–16 years.

Categories
5–8 yrs, 9–12 yrs and 13–16 yrs.

What do I do when I’ve made my film?

1. Post it up online using social media tools such as Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube.
2. Email us the link (see below)
3. Include: your name, address, email address and telephone number.
4. Address to email: videocompetition@oxfordcanalheritage.org

The winners

The competition judges are Geron Swann, centre director of Film Oxford and TV producer, director and BAFTA winner Antonia Lloyd. The winning entries will win cash prizes and will be shown at a special screening at St. Margaret’s Institute during the Festival. Watch this space for more info.
